A new decade has started and it seems that change is an ever progressing constant in life. The last few months have been intense, and not just for me personally. My occupation as a butcher has brought me success, and with this increase in personal standing, I was able to purchase my first home.
Time is our biggest restraint. One thing I have learned is that all it takes is dedicating some time and you can accomplish most anything. Of course dedicating time means sacrificing time from something else. I realized that with the circumstances I was living in, I could not grow as a person or an artist. I decided that if I wanted to buy a house I would have to take time from other endeavors, and so I gave myself a grace period where I put less pressure on myself as an artist, knowing it was all for ultimate welfare of my lifestyle.

This doesn't mean I stopped making artwork, just that it hasn't been published or updated. I have so much in store for my art, but I had to establish my new roots. This is the reason for a lack of posted artwork. Having a new studio room and more freedom to use the space will allow me to tackle larger and larger projects.
What's New
Meanwhile, my website has gone through a few updates specifically with regards to the Art Journal Blog. A new interface, cleaner look and fewer pages to click on, the front page will continue to present my most recent projects and writing. While focused on art, it will also highlight everyday activities with an artistic perspective to more easily integrate the projects I am doing in my life into ways of growing as and artist.
My lifestyle has a strong influence in my art, and as I grow a garden, update and repair my home, brew and cook, I will do my best to relate those to the art in my life.
More excitingly, I'm proud to announce the development of two art books in the coming year.
Art Books
I have reached a turning point in my life, and with it I find I need to reflect on the direction that my art is going. Collections of artwork from the past five years or so will presented in themed books that explore my development in the Photographic and Artistic field. Accompanied and composed of artwork and posts from my Online Journal, these books will highlight the best of my work and allow me to find an avenue to continue and improve.

So keep posted, I will be working diligently to share my journey into this new decade.
The first year has been so hectic, especially in Nashville where we recently had a tornado destroy homes and businesses not even seven miles from my new house. With the fast pace and chaos that has engulfed the world this year, it only drives me to work harder and feel blessed to have the time and home to do what I love.
