The Arcade: Photographic Spaces Part 1

PUBLIC STATION

In the heart of downtown Nashville is a well established public place three blocks from the Cumberland River waterfront. At over a hundred years old, it is a historic structure that shows its wear and use through the years. With rambling wooden floors that strap the balcony and a covered alley all illuminated by the warm dissipated glow of sunlight through frosted windows, it is a public place that resonates with culture and history.

Clad in patriotic banners and U.S. State flags, the place echoes with the voices of past generations. The outside air permeates the halls with the smells of the metropolitan city, which is at times swept by a channel of wind that brings relief in the heat of the south.

Above resides art galleries, while below shops and restaurants are among vacant spaces and hidden hallways. The halls of this indoor plaza hide many interesting storefronts and vantage points that make for characterizing images.
