Death Valley, CA
In an environment of sand and rock, miles of expansive desert feature some unexpected sights. What was once an inland sea, the Great Basin is a geography of dramatic slopes that drop thousands of feet to below sea level. As the water evaporated, the basin collected the concentrated salt which eventually collected to form eye-catching contrast in the landscape.
These monochromatic photographs emphasize the contrast and peculiar brightness that the sun drenched salt flats reflect.
