East Nashville, TN
October 2020
Nearly eight months after a EF3 tornado tore through north and east Nashville, there is still evidence and remnants of the damage. While the strength of locals overcame the damage on short term, the efforts to completely clean and repair are prolonged.

History leaves marks on our surroundings and all things age. When there is sudden deterioration it can be more noticeable. But even time beats on and some get used to things as people move on. It is strange how over only a short time the damage of the tornado has become absorbed into the environment and part of the face of this city.

There is a swath of cropped buildings through the streets, spattered with plyboard, tarps and construction zones. Some structures remain crumbling. Some were scrapped, and other still pending their destiny.
Perhaps recording these remnants over time can help to recover and refuse to forget what is easily be torn from us or damaged. It was heartbreaking to find the debris of other peoples homes in my yard and street. The insulation of peoples homes are no longer tatters in the trees, but the trees that once provided shade still show their own struggle.
Only time and people's determination can effectively fix and improve the damage, but the memories and images will live on to remind us.
