Human Conditions Series: Social Conformity

CONGREGATING AND CONFORMING

Human Conditions Series

Living organisms have a choice between order and chaos. Entropy is inevitable, and it is life that persists to create order out of that chaos and entropy. Ecosystems provide complex interaction between species, and individuals in some species cooperate and conform for survival and to thrive.

Human Conditions Series: Conformity, 2024. Printed and multimedia collage, 16"x 11".

Social structures and organizations mimic methods of nature to facilitate growth and harmony. Civilizations create and follow customs and traditions of cooperation, by using the innate instincts of social animals like humans, to retain peace and harmony between participants. We are naturally inclined to to act in compliance and collaborate with others, but sometimes companies, religions, governments and communities use this inclination to take advantage or control the people. Whether consciously or subconsciously, we are being manipulated to fit our paradigm of society, not always for our own safety or benefit.
