"Butternut"
Evidence of the past leaves its impression on both the materials of this world and our memories. Photography can capture the aging process in a way that makes something temporal more eternal, even though it will inevitable change. We photograph in an attempt to keep that first impression, and while the memory fades, the photograph might just persist through time to see another day.
Faded Impressions: Butternut, 2015. Digital Photograph.
Obscured intentionally but re-exposed, the writing on the metal surface still manages to communicate its purpose, whether sensical or not. Beauty in the decay is as persistent as the aging and only over time does one see the beauty in the deteriorated.
