Passion Flower After a Rain

Digital Photography of the fleeting bloom of a Passion Flower

These Images portray the blooming flower of the Passion Vine of which I have had trouble getting a photograph of because the flowers only last for about a day. Unlike Morning Glory flowers, they didn't seem to blossom at a predictable time and this made capturing them that much more rewarding.

It is always thrilling the first time a new plant I nurture flowers, and I can't help but share these photographs. This Passion Flower, which grows from wiry vines have stunning and bizarre looking flowers with bright purples and rings of varying color over soft white petals. This plant was intensely slow to grow and it took two years and a lot of patience before it reached this point.

Often found in the wild, the Passion Flower grows edible fruits that are sour and sweet and can vary in color. While the vines grow in my garden, watching the pace of plants growing has allowed me to appreciate the changing of the season and the passing of time at a slightly slower and more aware pace.
