SiO2- Chrysoprase (Chalcedony)
Crypto crystalline silica with traces of Nickle (Ni)
In this new series of digital photographs, I thought I'd start with featuring Chrysoprase since it is a star sign of Gemini and the astrological sign of my upcoming birthday. It is an opaque and glowing green stone, a derivative of silica quartz, but with a microcrystalline structure giving it a waxy, soft, lustered appearance.

Beauty in Natural Elements
With a milky sea-green complexion dispersed with smaller granite and quarts grain, the subtle blue-green chalcedony easily absorbs and softens light. This stone is light in so many ways: soft and somewhat fragile, it has cracks and crevasse and is light in weight for its size, light in the way it absorbs and doesn't reflect light, and light in it's creamy and almost translucent hue.
It has been mined since classical times and is said to bring calming and restorative properties, as well as admirable beauty and charming natural colors
