Vandyke Brown Prints: Macro Iris

The idiosyncrasies of the eye vary with every individual, and perhaps the most ornate and delicate details of the eye rest in the wisps of the iris. If you stare at a mirror, you will see that the filaments that compose the iris appear fabric-like, organic and full of flaws and unique characteristics.

Heterochromia view, 2017. Van Dyke Brown print.

My Australian Shepherd is conditioned with heterochromia, and has two different colored eyes. My family and I have often made jokes about the different characteristics and personalities that my dog has viewed from opposing sides, but the ice-blue left eye has always been the one to catch attention. Being of a lighter color it is extremely photogenic, and the cool hue of the left iris contrasts incredibly well with the shadow black eye lids and eyelashes.
