Macro Study: Fruit 1 of 3

The Strawberry

Fruit Digital Photography - Part 1

There is something so divine about food and the way it is able to nourish us. So much perfection goes into the growing of fruit, and the forms are so beautiful and pristine, it is hard to believe it is ready to eat and naturally made.

Fruit must have been essential for mankind; to have food that is ready-to-eat without needing to cook or process it, unlike grains, meats, or most vegetables. I could not imagine one of my mornings without fruit, it seems it is the only thing I eat every morning without qualms. It is pure life-source, the juice of fruit, and the visual pleasure from the array of bright colors almost shouts it's potential nutrients.

It is so easy to overlook the simple things that nourish us, and so I am often driven to observe them at even greater levels to see what about the essence of fruit that can bring such delight. Surely the beautiful forms and expressive color burst and texture can tell something about the temporal nature of food, about the vitality that it holds.

Perhaps the plant material, the cellular walls that compose of the fruit, resemble to structures of life found throughout our world. While we may have already know these fruits to be beautiful, it requires a new perspective, a different way of looking at the ordinary strawberry. In an up close look, the flesh of the fruit illuminated from throughout seems vibrant and crystalline.
