Collage Manifestation
A continuation of my previous collage and assembled at the same time, this Vandyke Brown collage has given me more trouble than previously expected. Compared to its sibling collage, this square format artwork was formed with a desire to make the images that compose the layers to be more ambiguous and less identifiable.
Less stenciling in this collage frees up more space for the imagery to show. The macro photographs become obstructed by exposed holes that reveal smaller details, like layers of depth when peering into a microscope.
In the very final layer is an illustration, an artistic rendition of a microscopic biome. Revealed in the cracks of other material, organisms and vitality continues to flourish, even if at most times they are not seen by the naked eye. These images explore ideas of the manifest found in the mundane yet significant details of our environments.
Personally I don't think this collage is as successful as the previous, but nonetheless it is a valuable attempt at art, providing ideas and experience worth learning from.
