Natural Ready-mades in Nashville, TN
I'm not sure whether its the brown tone of the prints, or the earthy quality on matte cotton paper, but when I was drawn to the these digital photos I took at Shelby Park,it was with a distinct insight that the contours and faceted wood carvings might look compelling in Van Dyke Brown.
The 4x5" prints are friendly, hand-sized photos that resemble a family portrait of dissimilar and disfigured trees. Each tooth-shaved tree and point-carved tree trunk has a unique identity. Through this small portal we witness destruction, yet embodied in a hand-printed photograph, seems confusingly charming and beautiful.
