Macro Matter: Fibers

Structures of matter

There is something rather revealing about knowing what an object is composed of, but sometimes even more so when you study the structure that the objects are composed of. Many of the things around us go unnoticed or unacknowledged, even if their structure is remarkable or beautiful.

Macro

Up close matter appears differently, and using short focal lengths and wide angles allows me to use a camera to capture a view closer than by the eye. There is much to be discovered in the forms of microscopic or millimeter sized structures.

Fibers

When a new perspective brings new witness, I am often excited by commonalities in seemingly different substances. Sometimes the organic appears very inorganic up close, and sometime the well defined is often ambiguous and less certain. These digital photographs explore the fibers of matter in material, and how texture and structure are ubiquitous yet infinitely varying throughout all objects.
