This is a personal work using a self-portrait of me during October last year. It was taken 48 hours after I was hit in the face through my open car window.
Later that week I found out it was broken, and so the title refers to the fractured state of my nose, as well as the fractured planes that exists in the cut segments. The face is obscured by a top layer of the collage, cut with geometric designs that seem fractured as well.
In the acts of healing both emotionally and physically, I have certainly seen a different me when looking in the mirror. In a convoluted world, I find myself coping through artistic endeavors, something I find that I use in times of contemplation.
