I'm glad to share my most recent Van Dyke Brown print, the first of a new series of hand-drawn illustrations I've been working on. This print explores the intricate patterns found in the formation of an ant colony. I wanted to present the array of chambers that compose the tunneling ants, based off real world references of metal castings poured into the cavities of remnant ant colonies.
I hope to depict these patterns in a pleasant and illustrative drawing that can be printed like a poster. While these illustrations are drawn stylistically and with artistic impression, I hope they bring a bit of excitement or wonder for the microcosms that share existence in our world.
